The personal diary of Robert Lewis, the co-pilot of the B-29 Enola Gay bomber, who participated in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, is for sale for almost $ 1 million. This was reported on February 26 by The Washington Post (WP).

In recordings made during the flight, Lewis described his thoughts and feelings before dropping the bomb. In particular, he noted that he felt a strange feeling, realizing that the ammunition was behind him. After the explosion, the man wrote a phrase that became widely known: "Oh my God, what have we done."

The personal records were put up for auction by the auction house Whitmore Rare Books. The starting price of the lot was $950 thousand. According to the representatives of the house, the diary is one of the significant historical evidence of the period of the Second World War.

The manuscript has already been sold before. In 1971, it was purchased for $37 thousand, and in 2022 for $ 543 thousand. In the near future, the document is scheduled to be shown at the New York International Antique Book Fair, which is scheduled to open on April 30.

On February 26, Kandinsky's painting "The Red Circle" was put up for auction by Christie's trading house. Previously, the value of the lot is estimated at $21 million. Dozens of works of art from the 20th and 21st centuries will be presented at Christie's auction. The collection "Modern Visionaries" is among the main exhibits. The collection includes works by Picasso, Henry Moore and Bruce Nauman.
