The expert assessed the chances of Chinese brands leaving the Russian market
Chinese brands are not leaving — they are learning to work in the Russian market in an adult way, weeding out the weak. This opinion was expressed by Andrey Kogan, the founder of the All-China company, chairman of the Committee for work with China at the Association of Exporters and Importers, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported on February 26.
According to the expert, Chinese brands are "purging the ranks", focusing their efforts on the most powerful players. Further developments will follow two scenarios simultaneously. The first is the departure of "second—tier" car manufacturers. These include about ten brands that have failed to increase sales and are operating in negative territory. They are highly likely to leave the market in 2026.
The second scenario is concentration around the leaders. Andrey Kogan believes that the market will remain with those who invest in localization, service and marketing. Brands that could not provide service and spare parts will leave, leaving behind maintenance problems.
This is a positive signal for the Russian-Chinese business, Andrei Kogan is sure.
"Instead of a chaotic flow of "everything in a row" machines, we are moving to civilized work with large responsible industrial partners," the expert believes.
On February 12, a number of Chinese automakers (Rox Motor, Bestune and Dongfeng) denied information in the media about the possible withdrawal of these brands from the Russian market. In 2025, according to AFM-Holding, 4,845 Bestune passenger cars, 1,693 Dongfeng passenger cars and 515 Rox cars were sold.
