It is vital for Russia and Belarus to develop allied relations in the current geopolitical environment. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State on February 26.

"In the current international situation, amid the tense situation, primarily on the western borders, it is vital for us to develop relations of alliance and strategic partnership between Belarus and Russia," he said.
