The number of counterfeit banknotes decreased in the Murmansk region
In 2025, two times fewer counterfeit banknotes were found in the Murmansk Region than in the previous 2024. According to statistics, the number of counterfeit banknotes is decreasing every year.
According to Bi-port news agency, with reference to the press service of the regional branch of the Bank of Russia, last year in the Murmansk region, banking specialists discovered eight fakes. Among them, six were in denominations of 5,000 rubles and two were in denominations of 1,000 rubles. For the first time since 2023, three counterfeits of $100 were found.
Alexey Andreev, Deputy governor of the regional branch of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, is confident that the number of counterfeit money has decreased due to the high level of protection against counterfeiting and modernization of banknotes. In addition, the cashier staff also receive appropriate training.
By the end of 2024, 19 counterfeit banknotes were found in the Arctic. This is 30% less than a year earlier.
In November, it was reported that since the beginning of 2025, 266 counterfeit banknotes have been withdrawn from circulation in the Krasnodar Territory. The total face value of the fakes exceeded 950 thousand rubles. However, compared to 2024, the number of fakes decreased by 41 units.
