Freight train derails on Sakhalin

A freight train derailment occurred on Sakhalin. This was announced on February 26 by the press service of the Ministry of Transport and Road Management of the region.

"On the morning of February 26, in the area of the 94th km of the Kholmsk - Chekhov stage, one of the three locomotives of freight train No. 3515 derailed without tipping over," the Telegram channel said.

It is specified that 30 wagons were attached to the locomotive. There were no fatalities or injuries as a result of the incident.

Maxim Zhogolev, Minister of Transport and Road Management, added that an emergency team of Russian Railways from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, consisting of 10 people and two pieces of equipment, was sent to the site to carry out restoration work. Commuter trains No. 6101/6102 on the Chekhov – Kholmsk–Chekhov route were cancelled during the aftermath period.

An additional bus service was organized for passengers from Chekhov to Kholmsk. The transport left at 7:45 a.m. and transported 11 people. According to the ministry, train traffic on the Kholmsk – Chekhov section is planned to be restored on February 26 during the day according to the schedule.

A source from Izvestia reported on January 24 that 20 gondola cars with coal derailed in the Khabarovsk Territory near the Korfovskaya station, 14 of them overturned. The damage from the incident amounted to more than 1 million rubles.
