The multinational naval exercise MILAN-2026, in which the Russian Navy was represented by the crew of the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov, has ended in India. This was announced on February 26 by the press service of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet).
For five days, Russian sailors and representatives of other participating countries practiced elements of joint maneuvering and naval combat in the Bay of Bengal, firing from naval artillery installations at sea and air targets, and also conducted anti-submarine operations as part of ship detachments.
In addition, within the framework of MILAN-2026, ships gradually forced areas with a mine risk, released a conditionally captured vessel and conducted inspection operations.
The Pacific Fleet's press service noted that the main focus was on search and rescue support and joint efforts to rescue those in distress at sea.
The closing ceremony of the multinational naval exercise MILAN-2026 and its summing up took place on board the Indian aircraft carrier Vikrant.
The opening ceremony of the international naval exercise MILAN-2026 was held in the Indian port of Visakhapatnam on February 20. As part of the event, a walking parade of the crews of the vessels participating in the exercise took place. The exercises are organized every two years by the Indian Navy.
