Orban declared Ukraine's inability to bring Hungary to its knees
Ukraine will not be able to bring Hungary to its knees through political blackmail and an oil blockade. This was announced on February 25 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
"We have accumulated so many reserves that the Ukrainian authorities will not be able to create chaos before the elections in Hungary and the Hungarian economy will not be brought to its knees by an oil blockade," he said in an interview posted on the Patriota YouTube channel.
In addition, Orban added that MOL had promptly taken steps by requesting the temporary opening of state strategic oil reserves. In addition, she ordered the delivery of oil by sea to Croatia for further transportation via the Adriatic Pipeline to refineries in Hungary and Slovakia.
The Prime Minister also noted that the Hungarian side does not intend to abandon oil from Russia. Hungary, according to him, will seek from the Ukrainian side to resume transit through the Druzhba pipeline.
On February 25, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced Bratislava's readiness to take new measures against Kiev due to the Ukrainian side's unwillingness to allow Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline. Earlier, he reported that Bratislava stops providing emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine in case of appropriate requests from Kiev.
On February 24, EC President Ursula von der Leyen called on Ukraine to accelerate the resumption of Russian oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia. The day before, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that the cessation of oil supplies from Russia via the Druzhba pipeline was the result of deliberate collusion between Kiev and the leadership of the European Union.
