Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, said on February 24 that Russia appreciates the United States' position on Ukraine and is responsible for trilateral negotiations. He also added that any agreements should be comprehensive and take into account Russia's concerns about the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis.
On February 18, the third round of closed-door talks between Russia, Ukraine and the United States ended in Geneva.
