Food fairs banned in Tyumen due to rabies
Any food fairs are prohibited in Tyumen. The reason is an unstable epizootic situation. The fairs were scheduled to take place on February 28.
According to the news agency " <url>", the region was covered by a wave of rabies virus. According to official data, over the past two months, quarantine due to rabies has been introduced in 25 settlements. The nearest outbreak is in the large village of Perevalovo, 20 km from Tyumen.
The Tyumen City Hall publication says that the Department of Agriculture of the region has decided to cancel the food fair due to the unstable epizootic situation in Russia and in accordance with the instructions of the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, in order to take additional food safety measures and minimize the risks of the introduction and spread of particularly dangerous animal diseases.
It was planned that four trading platforms and weekend food fairs would be open in Tyumen on February 28. The products of local farmers were to be sold there.
Earlier, on February 20, it was reported that in the Tyumen region, quarantine for animal rabies was announced in a village in the Kazan Municipal District. The quarantine applies to a part of Dubynka village. Since February 20, any activity related to animals, including their sale and any other movement, has been prohibited in the territory recognized as unsafe.
