- In the Russian Federation, the number of budget places in sought-after specialties will increase
The number of budget places in educational institutions for specialties in demand in Russia will be increased. This was announced on February 25 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin during his presentation at a meeting of the State Duma (State Duma).
"We will increase the number of budget places in the most sought—after professions, which are primarily necessary to achieve technological leadership," he said.
This trend, as the Prime Minister pointed out, is already visible. According to him, over half of the budget places in colleges, technical schools and universities are in technical professions.
Mishustin added that the government, on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, is currently continuing to "upgrade" the secondary vocational education system. The new stage, which will better meet the tasks set, will be called "special professional education".
"We are updating the material and technical base of colleges and training programs. So that students receive relevant knowledge and skills that are as close as possible to the activities of enterprises that they should work for after graduation," he said.
On February 10, Putin instructed the Russian government to consider changing the name of secondary vocational education. He called for a report on the work done to be submitted by July 1. The president also asked to include teamwork tasks in the programs of school Olympiads and competitions, as well as to provide teachers with advanced training in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
