AvtoVAZ has entrusted the assembly and balancing of wheels to robots
The Russian auto giant has launched a fully automated line for the assembly and balancing of Lada Vesta and Iskra wheels. This was reported in the press release of AVTOVAZ on February 25.
Robotization has made it possible to achieve high productivity — the wheel is assembled every 12 seconds, which is one and a half times faster than on previous equipment.

In addition to the standard sizes of 15-17 inches for Lada products, a trial batch of 18-inch wheels for the future Azimut crossover has been assembled on the line. They are installed on prototypes collected for testing. The line is capable of working with wheels up to 22 inches, according to a press release.
The processes are fully automated, right down to applying grease to the tire before mantling. During assembly, machine vision determines the size of the wheel. If the tire and disk do not fit, the process will be interrupted. The wheels are inflated by the "explosion" method using an automatic telescopic bell.
The line checks the wheel twice — before and after installing the balancing weights. If an incorrect value is detected, the wheel is removed from the process flow without human intervention.
On February 19, it became known that AvtoVAZ had applied for registration of the trademark "It is possible, but why?". Information about this appeared in the open database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS; Rospatent), an inspection of Izvestia showed. This phrase became a meme after an online interview with Oleg Grunenkov, Director of Products and Programs at AvtoVAZ. When asked if the Tolyatti auto giant was capable of developing a car similar in level to BMW, he replied: "It is possible, but why?".
All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
