Russia will determine the agenda of the peace talks on Ukraine. This was stated on February 25 by former German diplomat, member of the European Parliament (EP) Michael von der Schulenburg.

"Russia is winning. This means that she will determine the agenda of the peace talks," he said on the YouTube channel of Pascal Lottaz, an associate professor at Kyoto University in Japan.

The EP deputy noted that the EU countries will have to accept this, adding that Europe will not be able to "do anything" with the victory of the Russian Federation. At the same time, von der Schulenburg expressed the opinion that the position of European politicians regarding the Ukrainian conflict does not correspond to the current situation.

"There are no negotiations that ignore what is happening during the conflict. And that's exactly what we're doing — we don't agree, we don't want to accept reality," he concluded.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on February 24 that Russia's opponents are unable to inflict a strategic defeat on it, but they want so much that "they cannot live without it." According to him, opponents, "trying to find at least something," bring themselves to the extreme line, as a result of which they regret their actions.

On February 18, the third round of closed-door talks between Russia, Ukraine and the United States ended in Geneva. The head of the Russian delegation, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky, at the end of the meetings, called the trilateral negotiations difficult but constructive. Special Envoy of the US President Stephen Witkoff, in turn, noted that the parties had made significant progress during the discussions.
