In the United States, Democratic senators demanded an investigation into the trip of the head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Cash Patel, after the use of a company plane for personal purposes caused a delay in the arrival of agency agents at the scene of a mass shooting. This was reported on February 25 by Bloomberg, citing a Democratic informant in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

According to the newspaper, over the weekend, the head of the FBI traveled to Milan on the agency's plane to attend the match of the American hockey team at the Olympic Games. It is noted that FBI agents had to travel to another state at night through a storm to process evidence at the scene.

"Cash Patel went to the Olympics at taxpayers' expense. This is an irresponsible pleasure trip at someone else's expense and a waste of our money. He must compensate you for the damage. I am conducting an investigation," Senator Dick Durbin said on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The British newspaper The Times, citing sources, reported on February 11 that Britain's permanent representative to NATO, Angus Lapsley, settled his Italian girlfriend, with whom he maintained a romantic relationship, in an official residence in Brussels. According to the newspaper, Lapsley's relationship was considered "inappropriate" in diplomatic circles. However, after reviewing the internal rules of the alliance, it was not found that Lapsley violated any norms.
