A criminal case has been opened in Derbent over the death of a one-year-old girl, whose body was found in a baby carriage. This was reported in the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Dagestan.
"During a check by police officers of the documents of a resident of Derbent, they noticed that she had a two-year-old child in a stroller with no signs of life. According to preliminary data, the child's death could have occurred as a result of exhaustion," the ministry said in a statement on Monday.
The criminal case is qualified under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence"). All the circumstances of the incident are currently being established, as well as the causes and conditions that contributed to the tragedy. A legal assessment will be given to the actions or omissions of authorized officials. A forensic medical examination has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
