The sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Kim Yo Jong, was promoted following the party congress and became the head of the department of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. This was reported on February 24 by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
According to the list of appointments that appeared, the decision was made following the results of the first plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the ninth convocation of the party. Kim Yo Jong is one of the 17 department heads of the new Central Committee.
"The heads of departments of the Central Committee of the party are Kim Jae-ryong, Lee Il-hwan, Jong Kyong-taek, <...> Kim Yo-jong," the agency said in a statement.
Previously, Kim Yo Jong held the position of deputy head of the department at the Central Committee of the Party, added "Газета.Ru ".
On February 19, Kim Yo Jong announced that the DPRK would strengthen security at the border with South Korea. She noted that the DPRK leadership will take steps to increase vigilance in all sectors along the southern border to ensure reliable security.
