US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said on February 24 that the possibility of the existence of aliens does exist, and the US military may be ready to disclose some data on unidentified flying objects (UFOs).

"I don't want to say in advance how long it will take. Our department is dealing with this issue. We will fully comply with [US President Donald Trump's] decree and look forward to providing this information to the president," the News portal publishes his media briefing in Colorado.Meaww.com.

Hegseth noted that he would never have thought that publishing files about extraterrestrial life forms would be part of his responsibilities as head of the Pentagon.

"I will review the data and find out. <...> Wait for the details. It will be a carefully thought—out process. <...> I don't want to make too many promises and [eventually] fail to fulfill them," he told reporters.

On February 19, Trump ordered the release of government files on extraterrestrials. The Head of State added that he would instruct the Pentagon and other relevant departments and agencies to begin the process of identifying and making public the files.

Former US President Barack Obama said on February 14 that aliens exist, but he had never personally encountered them. Speaking with blogger Brian Cohen, the former American leader refuted conspiracy theories and stressed that there are no secret laboratories for extraterrestrial beings on the territory of Zone 51.
