The increase in salaries in the mining sector and the northern regions, where the average income exceeds 200 thousand rubles, will increase the influx of personnel to the Magadan region, Yamal and Chukotka. This was stated on February 24 by Valery Tumin, a member of the Expert Council on the Development of the Digital Economy under the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy.

According to the expert, the increase in median salaries in the energy sector by about a third reflects the structural restructuring of the economy and changes in logistics. The state is making significant investments in the development of the Northern Sea Route, the creation of energy bridges and mining projects that require qualified personnel, Tumin stressed.

"The demand for such specialists is enormous, and it will only grow — we need to meet the internal needs of the growing industry and fulfill our obligations to partners in the East. Therefore, further income growth in this area will continue, although perhaps not at such a pace," he said.

According to the expert, the trend is obvious: the increase in earnings in the extractive sector and the northern regions, where the average wage exceeds 200 thousand rubles, will continue to attract the active population to the Magadan region, Yamal and Chukotka. For other regions, this creates competition for personnel, but at the same time encourages them to form their own centers of economic development.

According to Tumin, the situation in construction is different. Despite the formally high level of salaries, the industry is under pressure due to mortgages and cuts in preferential programs.

"There is money in the industry, but it is unevenly distributed: developers are forced to freeze projects or delay payments, hence the more modest percentage of salary increases compared to energy. The market is simply being cleared of ineffective players," the expert said.

As Tumin emphasized, the situation is different in the budgetary areas of education and healthcare. Salary increases cannot be compared to the pace of the commercial sector. However, according to Tumin's forecasts, a gradual and steady increase in wages is expected without sudden jumps.

On February 23, it was reported that the average salary in Russia increased by more than 10 thousand rubles over the year. It was clarified that in 2024, residents of 12 regions of Russia received over 100 thousand rubles per month.
