In Russia, fraudsters have created a fake chatbot that impersonates the country's Federal Tax Service (FTS). This was announced on February 24 by the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"Another fake chatbot has been identified, this time posing as an official resource of the Federal Tax Service of Russia," the agency's Telegram channel says.

They explained that the bot's functionality is extremely primitive and boils down to collecting personal data: the user is asked to provide a full name, phone number and send a confirmation code. He does not open access to real services or services of the Federal Tax Service.

Earlier that day, it was reported that scammers began using a new scheme with an offer to join the entrance chat to obtain personal data of citizens. It was noted that the attackers communicate with the Russians through messengers and offer to join a supposedly communal chat to exchange relevant information. In this way, they try to gain the trust of potential victims.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
