The office of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer did not rule out the possibility of retaliatory duties against the United States after tariffs were increased to 15%. This was announced on February 23 by a Downing Street representative.

"We are not ruling anything out," Sky News quoted him as saying.

At the same time, the office noted that British industry does not want a trade war, and London is now focused on constructive cooperation with Washington.

On February 21, US President Donald Trump announced an increase in previously imposed duties on imports from all over the world from 10% to 15%. According to him, the decision is aimed at protecting American manufacturers and strengthening the national economy. Trump considers the tariff increase to be a necessary measure in the face of global competition and the ongoing trade imbalance.
