U.S. Ambassador to France Charles Kushner, who is the father of U.S. President Jared Kushner's son-in-law, did not arrive at the republic's Foreign Ministry on a call due to statements about the death of far-right activist Quentin Deranck, and therefore Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barraud intends to limit his direct contacts with members of the government. This was reported on February 23 by Agence France-Presse (AFP) with reference to the French Foreign Ministry.

"The American ambassador did not show up. Due to this apparent misunderstanding of the basic requirements for an ambassador who has the honor of representing his country, Minister [Barro] demanded that he no longer have direct access to members of the French government," TASS quoted the message.

The ministry on Quai d'Orsay clarified that the diplomat retains the opportunity to perform his functions, including arriving at the Foreign Ministry to hold talks and discuss issues of disagreement in bilateral relations.
