Zakharova called the elimination of the root causes of the conflict a condition for a just peace.

In order to establish a long-term and just peace in Ukraine, it is necessary to deal with the root causes of the conflict, which Russia is actively working on through diplomatic channels. This was announced on February 23 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the fourth anniversary of the start of the special military operation.

"A lasting, just and sustainable peace is possible only on the basis of eliminating the root causes of the conflict. It is precisely to this task that the current efforts of our diplomacy are subordinated, including in contacts with the countries of the World majority and within the framework of the Russian-American dialogue," the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry quoted her as saying on the Telegram channel.

The statement notes that work in this area is underway both on multilateral platforms and in the format of bilateral negotiations.
