On February 23, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev responded to the threat of the head of the European Diplomacy, Kai Kallas, to ban the issuance of Schengen to all former Russian servicemen who participated in a special military operation, saying that they would be able to enter the Schengen area without visas.

"What a loss for our fighters! Well, they can enter there without visas if they want. Like in 1812 or 1945. Happy Defender of the Fatherland Day!" he wrote on the MAX messenger.
