A modern, mobile and well-equipped army is being formed on the territory of Belarus, capable of deterring any potential aggressor. This was announced by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on February 23.

"I am convinced that only a modern, mobile, well-equipped army can resist the aggressor. The kind that you and I have been creating all these years. An army capable of cooling the ardor of any aggressor," reads the text of the Belarusian president's congratulations on Defender of the Fatherland and Armed Forces Day, which is published on the website of the head of state.

He stressed that it is the power of the armed forces, as well as the unity and cohesion of the people that remain the foundation of the peaceful future of Belarus and require constant strengthening. The Head of State also recalled that the country traditionally honors soldiers who, in different historical periods, stood up for the Motherland, defending its freedom and independence. In this regard, he referred to the events of the Great Patriotic War, noting that the Red Army and the ancestors of modern Belarusians saved the country and the people by winning.

The President also called for preserving the memory of the heroic deed, pointing out that forgetting historical lessons can lead to a repeat of tragic events. In addition, Lukashenko said that attempts are being made to form forces on the border borders of Belarus for possible pressure on the East, and stressed that the republic's authorities are monitoring the situation and understand what is happening.

On February 10, Lukashenko instructed the country to establish its own production of running ammunition by the end of 2026. He also drew attention to the need to resolve the issue of providing the army with ammunition, in particular grenade launchers. In addition, the head of state warned that the execution of this order must be completed on time.

On January 28, Secretary of State of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Volfovich also reported to Lukashenko on the progress of a large-scale check of the combat readiness of the Armed Forces of the state. The Leader of the republic paid special attention to the conditions of accommodation and provision of personnel in difficult weather conditions, as well as the adaptation of combat experience of modern conflicts in wooded and swampy areas.
