Zakharova compared the scandal surrounding ex-Prince Andrew to a "circus of freaks"
The scandal surrounding former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, related to the files of financier Jeffrey Epstein, has exposed a real "circus of freaks" in Britain's elite. This was announced on February 23 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"Look at what's happening in Britain right now. Well, this is really some kind of circus of freaks, God forgive me," she said in an interview with TASS.
Zakharova drew attention to the fact that not just a member of the royal family was involved in the scandal, but "a man who made not just decisions, but he was endowed with the functionality of conducting British policy both at home and abroad, who had an incredible influence on financial decision-making and shaped public opinion."
Commenting on the former prince's ties with Epstein, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that all British intelligence and intelligence services were aware of the affairs of the former prince and hid it.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who renounced the title of Duke of York and all related honors on October 17, 2025, after discovering his name in Epstein's files, was detained on February 19 and released from custody on the same day.
It was noted that the ex-prince denied his guilt. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on February 20 that Andrew was arrested for sending confidential government documents to Epstein.
