North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has become the General Secretary of the WPK again.
At the IX Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) in Pyongyang, delegates voted for the re-election of the country's leader Kim Jong-un to the post of Secretary General. This was reported on February 23 by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
"The election of the head of the WPK, who holds a responsible position to lead the cause of socialism to victory at the head of the state and the people, is an important matter on which the leadership of the party and the future of the Motherland and the people depend," the agency noted.
KCNA stressed that the congress fully supported and approved the proposal to re-elect Kim Jong-un to the highest post of the WPK.
On February 19, the leader of the DPRK got behind the wheel of one of the new large-caliber multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), transferred to the country's army and party. The ceremony was attended by participants of the IX Congress of the WPK, senior officials and specialists of the military industry. Kim Jong-un presented the Order of Kim Il-sung to a leading military-industrial enterprise and handed over a document on the transfer of MLRS to the Chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, emphasizing the high military value of the new weapons.
