"The situation is scary and critical," one witness said.

According to him, local residents were advised to stay in safe zones, refrain from going out on the streets, not to use taxis and not to go to the airport. The beaches are closed, and people tend to get inside faster.

Nemecio Oseguera Cervantes, known as El Mencho, the head of one of Mexico's largest drug cartels, the Jalisco New Generation, was announced on February 22.
