- The Russian Embassy in Seoul explained the placement of the "Victory will be ours" banner
On February 22, the Russian Embassy in South Korea informed Izvestia that the banner "Victory will be ours" hung on the wall of the diplomatic mission building in Seoul should not offend anyone's feelings.
"The placement of various banners, banners and other materials on the territory of embassies is a common practice," the embassy said.
The diplomatic mission recalled that last year a banner dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was placed on the embassy building.
"The same banner was posted in connection with the Russian holidays celebrated in February — Diplomatic Worker's Day and Defender of the Fatherland Day. The catchphrase on the banner is familiar to all Russians and is associated with our history, including the mobilization of the Soviet people to defeat Nazi Germany and other glorious pages of Russian history," the embassy said.
As noted in the diplomatic mission, the placement of this banner contributes to the patriotic consolidation of Russians and should not offend anyone's feelings due to this historical connotation. After the completion of the celebrations, the embassy planned to dismantle the tripwire, since for technical reasons it does not involve long-term operation.
On February 22, the South Korean Foreign Ministry demanded that the Russian Embassy remove the "Victory will be ours" banner posted on the wall of the department's building in Seoul.
