British Defense Minister John Healey announced London's readiness to send a British military contingent to the territory of Ukraine. He announced this on February 22.

"I want to be the Minister of Defense who will send British troops to Ukraine," he said in an interview with The Telegraph newspaper.

Healy also said that Europe allegedly needs a strong Ukraine, and sending European troops to the territory controlled by Kiev would, in his words, mean the beginning of negotiations on a peaceful settlement.

Yesterday, The Guardian newspaper reported that Britain called for the deployment of troops of the "coalition of the willing" in Kiev. It was noted that this was not a full-scale intervention, but a joint coordination of the allies' efforts to ensure the security of the Ukrainian capital.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on February 4 that the deployment of troops of the "coalition of the willing" in Ukraine after a potential peace agreement was unacceptable to Russia. She also stressed that the "unrestrained expansion" of NATO to the east, including Ukraine, is one of the key causes of the current conflict.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on February 6 that recent words by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine about the deployment of troops could be interpreted as evidence of preparations for a foreign intervention on Ukrainian territory.
