The majority of Russian citizens who are officially declared bankrupt have a total debt of less than 500 thousand rubles. This was reported on February 22 by RBC with reference to data from the Bureau of Credit Histories (BCI) Scoring Bureau.
According to the BKI, a debt of up to 500 thousand rubles was recorded for 181.9 thousand people who went through bankruptcy proceedings. Another 115.5 thousand citizens have obligations ranging from 500 thousand to 1 million rubles.
Debts in the amount of 1 million to 2.5 million rubles were found in 120 thousand bankrupts. The amount of 2.5 million to 5 million rubles is owed by 39.3 thousand people.
At the same time, the number of citizens whose obligations exceed 5 million rubles is 19.9 thousand people, it follows from the data provided.
On February 13, the Supreme Court of Russia announced their permission to seize the heir's only home to pay off his deceased father's debts. A precedent-setting case occurred in St. Petersburg, where a son who inherited an apartment was unable to fulfill debt obligations to a construction company left by his parent. It was noted that a resident of the city filed for bankruptcy, citing the inability to repay a debt of more than 9 million rubles.
