Rock band "Va-Bank" celebrates 40th anniversary in Gorbunov Recreation Center
On March 6, the rock band Va-Bank will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its creative activity in the Gorbunov Recreation Center in Moscow. A team with permanent leader Alexander F. Sklyar will present a program that will include compositions from different years. On February 22, the band members told about their work.
The band was founded in the mid-1980s. Alexander F. Sklyar, a graduate of MGIMO, worked in his specialty before creating the team, including being on a business trip to the DPRK for three years. Sklyar constantly spent time in another country with a guitar in his hands, and after returning to Moscow he focused on musical activities.
Gorbunov Recreation Center holds a special place in the history of the collective. The band's concerts took place there in different periods of its existence. The anniversary performance will also take place at this venue.
"As a kid, you walked out on shaky legs in this place, and my mom sat there at my only concert. Then she didn't go for a long time, because they shaved half my head at this concert," he told Izvestia correspondent Maxim Prikhod.
Gradually, "All-In" moved from classic rock to hardcore. Sklyar, in turn, led the "Learn to Swim" festival, which became the main one for fans of heavy alternative rock.
"The entire modern alternative rock scene should be grateful to Alexander Felixovich for the fact that, thanks to his selfless activity, he promoted this direction. So Sasha is the father of alternatives," said musician, author and singer Alexander Parshikov (Branimir).
Over the years, Sklyar collaborated with musicians of the Russian rock scene, including Garik Sukachev. In addition to working within the framework of All-In, he participated in joint projects and performed compositions in genres such as bard songs and urban romance.
On February 21, Izvestia correspondent Yaroslav Bogat spoke about the Winter International Art Festival in Sochi under the leadership of People's Artist of the USSR Yuri Bashmet. For almost two decades, the event has become one of the key cultural events of the season, bringing together world-class musicians, actors and dancers at one venue.
