Experts gave recommendations for celebrating February 23rd without accidents
On the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day, experts from the insurance company "Consent" gave practical recommendations, thanks to which residents of Russia will spend the holiday without an accident. Izvestia got acquainted with them.
According to the "Consent", last year on the day of the holiday the fewest accidents were recorded on the roads — almost 40% less than on a regular weekend. Also, according to statistics, by the end of 2025, men accounted for more than 70% of all insurance claims for CTP and CASCO, women turned out to be more careful behind the wheel. Drivers aged 35 to 45 years old became the most dangerous age category among men — they account for a third of all accidents.
Speaking about the names appearing in traffic accident reports, experts noted that Cyril, Egor, Daniil (including Danila), Nikita and Ilya became the absolute leaders of anti-rating. At the same time, drivers with the names Victor, Valery and Gennady, as well as Anatolia, Valentina and Petra, on the contrary, turned out to be the most accurate.
Experts of "Consent" recommend planning time in case there is a desire to go somewhere on Defender of the Fatherland Day. Statistics show that drivers most often get into accidents due to haste. It is recommended to plan your trip by increasing the travel time by 20-30 minutes. This will allow you not to get nervous in traffic jams and once again not to take risks on an empty road.
In addition, experts advised to pay attention to the weather conditions, which can be changeable. It is important to check the condition of the tires and the braking system in advance.
While driving, one should not be distracted by the phone, experts of the "Consent" noted.
"Even a couple of seconds to look at the screen at a speed of 60 km / h turns into 30 m of blind driving," the company said.
If you need to take an important call, experts recommended parking and calling back.
Do not forget about the distance on the roads. During the holidays, it is not uncommon for drivers who drive rarely and feel insecure. When it snows, their mistakes become unpredictable.
According to experts, you should not skimp on insurance. This can minimize the waste of money and time in the event of an accident.
The State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry reported on February 20 that 195 road accidents occurred on the country's roads during the day, in which 22 people were killed and 234 injured. Most of the victims were drivers and passengers of vehicles. There were also 17 accidents involving buses and 62 incidents involving pedestrians, including minors. The ministry recalled the need to follow the rules of the road and be especially careful in winter.
