Almost 40% of Russian residents prepare for exams with the help of tutors
February has traditionally become an important month for finding tutors for those who are preparing for the Unified State Exam and the BSE. Avito Services and Avito Advertising analysts have found out how Russian residents prepare for exams and improve their academic performance with the help of tutors. Izvestia has reviewed the received data.
According to the survey results, 28% of respondents are either already studying with a tutor or plan to start classes in the near future. At the same time, preparation for state exams remains the main goal for 37% of the study participants. 31% of the respondents want to improve their current academic performance, and one in four (25%) intends to study with a tutor for in-depth study of the subject.
Support for current studies is important for 19% of respondents, while learning a new subject or skill is important for 17%. Only 16% of the respondents use the tutor's service to prepare for important tests and attestations, while for 15% of respondents it is important to broaden their horizons with the help of additional classes.
Mathematics has become the most sought—after discipline for tutoring - 48% of respondents turn to tutors in this area. Foreign languages are in second place with a share of 44%. 29% of respondents are interested in Russian, and every fifth (20%) chooses physics and chemistry. Programming and IT are also quite popular — 15% of respondents turn to specialists in this field. At the same time, 12% of respondents turn to the services of tutors in humanitarian subjects.
Russian residents rely on personal experience to find a teacher for additional classes: recommendations from friends, colleagues, and relatives are important to half of the respondents (50%). At the same time, one in three (33%) relies on the recommendations of school teachers and parents of other children. It is noteworthy that 34% of the respondents use the services of tutors found through online advertising.
When choosing a class format, the majority prefers offline lessons (46%). The online format is also in demand, with 28% preferring one-on-one distance learning. 11% of respondents choose self-study with the verification of assignments from a tutor, while only 14% of respondents are interested in group formats.
Many respondents pay attention to the cost of tutoring. 61% of respondents invest up to 10 thousand rubles per month for classes. Only 11% of the respondents are willing to spend over 15,000 rubles. The average monthly budget is 11.2 thousand rubles, while in Moscow and St. Petersburg this figure is noticeably higher - 14.8 thousand and 12.5 thousand rubles, respectively.
On January 24, Victoria Podsukhina, a teacher and head of regional teaching at the MAXIMUM educational company, gave advice on preparing for the OGE and the Unified State Exam six months before the exams. At the first stage, it is necessary to objectively assess the current level of knowledge by writing a mock exam in a format as close as possible to the real one. This will help identify problematic topics. It is better to analyze the work with an expert teacher or tutor who will give objective feedback on the criteria, especially on the difficult second part, where independent verification is often ineffective.
