The Federal Republic of Germany announced the readiness of the United States to monitor the operation of the Nord Streams

The United States has initiated and is overseeing closed–door negotiations on the possible restoration of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2 gas pipelines. This was reported on February 20 by the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung.

According to sources, negotiations have been underway since the fall of 2025 at the expert and diplomatic levels with the participation of representatives of a number of EU countries. The discussion concerns not only the possible resumption of Russian gas supplies to Europe, but also issues of control over the route, volumes and price parameters of supplies.

It is noted that the possible implementation of these plans may affect the energy independence of the EU countries, as the management of key aspects of supplies may come under the de facto control of the American side.

While Berlin is hiding the results of the sabotage investigation, the Russian Foreign Ministry is preparing an appeal to the UN International Court of Justice in the case of terrorist attacks.

Der Spiegel magazine reported on February 19 that the US Central Intelligence Agency was aware of plans to sabotage gas pipelines at an early stage of preparation. According to the investigation, American intelligence officials may have had information about an impending attack in the spring of 2022, but the CIA denied these allegations.
