Composer Raymond Pauls has publicly revoked all previously issued powers of attorney to his representatives ahead of a planned 90th anniversary concert. The official statement was published in the edition of Latvijas Vēstnesis.

According to lawyers, this step indicates Pauls' dissatisfaction with the actions of his representatives. As a result, no one can make deals or manage financial and image issues on behalf of the composer anymore.

The concert, designed for the participation of more than 13,000 performers — singers, musicians and choirs from Latvia and abroad — was originally named after the composer. However, Pauls stated that he did not consent to the use of his name in the name of the event and did not agree on the terms of its holding.

The maestro expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that his name was used to create a concert brand and for commercial purposes without his participation. In response, the organizers changed the name of the event, removing Pauls' name, but his family saw signs of ulterior motives in the organizers' actions.

On January 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated People's Artist of the USSR and former Latvian Minister of Culture Raymond Pauls on his 90th birthday. The Russian leader added that in Russia and abroad, Pauls' name is strongly associated with the outstanding talent of the pianist and composer, evoking sincere love and recognition.
