The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) may discuss the issue of the return of Russian and Belarusian teams to the competition in November–December 2026. This was announced on February 21 by IIHF Vice President Bob Nicholson.

"The next discussion of this issue will probably be in November or December of this year," TASS quoted Nicholson as saying.

Russian and Belarusian national teams have been banned from participating in international tournaments since 2022. The press service of the IIHF Council announced on January 22 that the issue of returning juniors from Russia to tournaments in the 2027/28 season will be considered.
