A soldier of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation explained the danger of using Telegram in his military area

The military personnel of the Vostok group of forces use the domestic messenger, since Telegram users in the zone of a special military operation (SVO) can endanger both their lives and the lives of their comrades. This was stated by the platoon commander with the call sign Hector, his words were quoted by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on February 21.

"We use a domestic messenger operating through communication channels that are protected by certified means. We are talking about a military messenger that allows us to fully carry out the assigned combat tasks," the soldier said.

He also stressed that Telegram poses a threat to the security of military personnel, since its servers are located abroad, which means that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) can access message logs and telemetry. Hector stated that Telegram is not used to manage divisions.
