The referees should not have counted the goal of the hockey players from the Canadian national team in the semifinals at the Olympic Games in 2026 (OI-2026). This was announced on February 20 by the head coach of the Finnish national ice hockey team, Antti Pennanen.

"In my opinion, the third goal was scored from an offside position. But there was a difficult situation, it was hard to make a decision. We have nothing to justify, we need to move on," TASS quoted him as saying.

It is noted that the forward of the Canadian national team, Nathan MacKinnon, scored the winning goal in the last minute of the third period.

On February 20, the Canadian team beat Finland 3-2 in the semifinals of the Olympic Men's hockey tournament.

Sam Rinehart (35th minute), Shea Theodore (51st minute) and Nathan MacKinnon (60th minute) scored for the winners. Mikko Rantanen (17th) and Erik Haula (24th) scored goals for the Finnish national team.
