In Transbaikalia, alcohol consumption decreased in the fourth quarter of 2025 due to the restrictions imposed. This was stated by Olga Makarova, deputy head of the regional tariff service, on Friday, February 20.

According to her, the average consumption of "hot" drinks per capita in the region decreased by 2-3 liters. As one of the reasons, she cited a decrease in the number of alcohol sales outlets in apartment buildings, the so-called "filling stations."

The largest decrease was recorded in municipalities with developed apartment buildings, writes ChitaMedia news agency. At the same time, there is an increase in consumption in Mogochinsky, Kyrinsky and Akshinsky districts, which requires additional measures, Makarova noted.

The official also stated that more than 360 shops selling alcohol in apartment buildings in the region had been stripped of their licenses. This was the largest step of the anti-alcohol campaign.

The authorities of Transbaikalia announced plans to reduce alcoholism in the spring of last 2025. A special commission was created, which included all departments and organizations working in this area. Since then, the region has limited the time for the retail sale of alcohol in dispensers, during holidays and in the courtyard of residential buildings.
