Rosstandart has adopted GOST for bananas

Rosstandart has adopted GOST for imported bananas, which will enter into force in March 2026. This became known on February 20.

Fresh bananas will have to be monitored for compliance with the requirements for appearance, taste and smell, as well as the degree of maturity, according to RIA Novosti.

According to GOST, bananas should be green or light green so that they can ripen in Russian warehouses. There should be at least three fruits in one brush, one cut fruit is allowed, but with the remainder of the peduncle.

The length of bananas, according to the new requirements, should be approximately 14 cm.
