Residents of the Czech Republic complain that they cannot live in peace in their country because of the abundance of Ukrainian speech. This was announced on February 19 by the leader of the SPD (Freedom and Direct Democracy) movement, which is part of the ruling coalition in the Czech Republic, and Speaker of the House of Deputies Tomio Okamura.

"The citizens are unhappy. <...> Many citizens write to me that shopping malls or other parts of Prague are already like in Ukraine," Okamura said in an interview with the Idnes portal.

According to him, Czech citizens should feel at home in the country.

Okamura added that attracting cheap labor from Ukraine reduces wages in the Czech Republic.

In connection with these factors, he announced the preparation of a law on tightening the temporary protection regime for Ukrainians and for other foreign citizens.
