This was announced on February 19 during a press conference on: Vladimir Kaganer, Director of the National Union of Travel Industry Professionals, spoke at the Izvestia News center about the New tourist season: Russians' plans for 2026.

He specified that the capital accounts for more than 30% of bookings. The next most popular cities are St. Petersburg (17%), Sochi, Krasnodar and Nizhny Novgorod. Tourists choose short trips lasting three to four days.

The expert noted that there is no significant surge in demand for foreign destinations on the eve of the school holidays.

Starting from March 1, 2026, new rules for booking and checking into hotels will come into effect in Russia. Uniform requirements will apply to all types of accommodation facilities, from hotels and recreation centers to campsites. It was clarified that the hotel will be required to wait for the guest during the day: from the moment of scheduled arrival until the check-out time of the next day.
