The coach spoke about the effect of physical activity on libido levels.
Regular physical activity helps maintain libido through hormonal balance and improved blood circulation. This was announced on February 23 by Akulina Bakhturina, senior coach and head of the teacher training department of the international network of ballet and stretching studios LEVITA.
According to the expert, sexual desire is influenced by a complex of factors, including stress levels, the state of the nervous system, self-esteem, and the phase of the cycle. As the coach clarified, it is physical activity that acts as a tool for adjusting the body, since it helps to restore a sense of resource.
So, moderate regular workouts help maintain hormonal balance. Physical activity affects an increase in tissue sensitivity to estrogen and testosterone, a decrease in chronically elevated cortisol, and a stabilization of dopamine and serotonin production.
"It is this balanced state that is considered the most favorable for libido. With chronic stress, the body gets stuck in the "fight or flight" mode, and the desire for intimacy fades into the background. A reasonable load reduces the level of the "stress hormone" — cortisol, improves the nervous system's response to troubles and helps the body finally switch to a mode of relaxation and bodily sensations," said Bakhturina.
As the specialist emphasized, sexual arousal is directly related to blood microcirculation. Regular movement supports the health of the pelvic vessels and increases tissue sensitivity, which creates favorable conditions for a sexual response. The psychological aspect is no less important: careful fitness without work "because I can't" helps to reduce the number of clamps and internal criticism, increasing bodily awareness.
However, excessive and severe loads can have the opposite effect. Overloads deplete the body's resources and suppress the production of sex hormones. The expert recommends giving preference to yoga, pilates, stretching, or dance styles that enhance body contact.
"Libido in this sense becomes a reflection of how comfortable the body is living. And regular moderate physical activity helps maintain hormonal balance, improve blood circulation and self—confidence — and this naturally leads to a more stable sexual desire," concluded Bakhturina.
Head of the Sleep Study.Professor Eduard Yakupov said on February 4 that chronic insomnia causes weight gain, anxiety, decreased libido and other consequences due to hormonal imbalance. He added that such disorders have clinical consequences, including hypertension, metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, and an increased risk of diabetes.
