At the opening ceremony of the Moscow Maslenitsa in Beijing festival, representatives of the capitals of Russia and China signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of tourism. The document provides for joint exhibitions and industry events, the use of digital resources to promote projects, the exchange of best practices, as well as the organization of study tours for specialists in the hospitality industry of the two countries. This was announced by Deputy Mayor Natalia Sergunina.

The festival takes place from February 19 to 22 in one of the largest parks in Beijing, Chaoyang. The program includes creative workshops, choreographic and vocal performances, national treats and other events.

"Moscow is strengthening comprehensive cooperation with colleagues from the People's Republic of China. It is not limited to any particular areas, but extends to all key areas, from culture and technological development to tourism," Natalia Sergunina said.

According to her, China ranks first among non-CIS countries in terms of the number of tourists coming to the Russian capital. Last year, the tourist flow from China increased by almost 10 percent and reached 470 thousand people.
Partnership projects between the two capitals contribute to the development of cooperation, including the festivals "Moscow Maslenitsa in Beijing" and "Chinese New Year in Moscow", which takes place in the city until March 1 and unites more than 60 venues.

Last winter, the Chinese New Year in Moscow festival was included in the program of the cross-cultural Years of Russia and China. Then it was visited by about 1.5 million people. Street performances, drumming shows, tea ceremonies, calligraphy workshops and board games aroused the greatest interest. The events were covered by the media from more than 30 countries. At the end of November last year, "Moscow Seasons in Beijing" won the National Award of China. The project received a silver award from the China Golden Awards for Excellence in Public Relations in the Public Communications category.
