Dealers estimated the rise in price of used cars in Russia in 2026
In the first half of the year, the price increase in the secondary car market will not exceed 8%. This increase will mainly affect models in the price segment from 1.5 million to 3 million rubles. This opinion was shared by Alexander Shaprinsky, commercial director of the Pragmatika dealership network, according to the Autostat analytical agency on February 18.
According to Yuri Chistov, CEO of the Fresh automotive marketplace, prices for used cars will remain at the 2025 level or increase by 3-4% due to increased VAT and increased demand. However, according to him, middle—class cars may rise in price by 15% - there is a shortage of high-quality used cars from Europe, South Korea and Japan. With the stabilization of the economy and the emergence of alternative purchase options, there is a possibility of lower prices for some categories of cars, he believes.
In turn, Roman Titov, Deputy General Director for used cars at Avilon Group, predicts that a gradual increase in prices in the secondary market can be expected by the end of February — beginning of March. The prerequisites for a rise in prices remain, the indexation of scrap collection and an increase in VAT have an impact on the market, and imported powerful cars will remain in the zone of increased price pressure, he added.
Earlier, on February 16, it was reported that in the first half of February, prices for new cars changed for three brands officially represented on the Russian market. In all cases, an increase in prices was recorded.
Prior to that, Alexey Podshchekoldin, head of the Russian Automobile Dealers Association (ROAD), said that the average cost of a new passenger car in Russia could increase by about 10% during 2026.
