During spring break, which in most Russian schools will be held from March 28 to April 5, families with children are more likely to choose foreign trips, primarily to Turkey and China. This is evidenced by data from the OneTwoTrip travel planning service, which was reviewed by Izvestia on February 21.

According to experts, compared to last year, interest in holidays abroad has increased significantly: the number of such tourists has increased by 78%, and the share of foreign bookings has reached 48%. Nevertheless, 52% of families preferred to spend their holidays in Russia.

According to analysts, the duration of trips has also increased slightly. Within the country, the average length of stay in hotels was 2.9 days compared to 2.8 days a year earlier. Families abroad book accommodation for an average of 3.3 days, whereas in 2025 this figure was 2.7 days.

St. Petersburg is the leader among Russian destinations, accounting for 19% of bookings with children, and the average rest period is 2.9 days. This is followed by Moscow (15.5%; 2.3 days), Kaliningrad (12.1%; 2.7 days), Adler (10.3%; 2.5 days) and Yekaterinburg (3.4%; 1 day). Last year, Sochi and Esto-Sadok were among the most popular cities, while Kaliningrad and Yekaterinburg were not in the top.

Turkey is in the highest demand abroad this spring, with 18.5% of bookings and an average stay of 3.6 days. Families also actively choose China (13%; 4 days), Japan (7.8%; 2.3 days), the UAE (7.4%; 4.5 days) and France (5.6%; 2.7 days). A year ago, Russians were more likely to travel to Thailand and Uzbekistan, while Turkey and the UAE occupied less prominent positions, experts concluded.

Maxim Shilov, Director of the MITT International Exhibition of Tourism and the Hospitality Industry, on February 5 named unusual foreign destinations that are gaining popularity among Russians in 2026. According to him, the status of one of the key outbound tourism destinations in 2026 will be secured for China. He added that the cultural and historical centers of Chengdu, Xi'an, Luoyang, Suzhou, as well as non—mass beach resorts such as Qingdao, Dalian and Beidaihe are of increasing interest.
