Only 1% of Russian motorists surveyed called neural networks a reliable source for car repairs, while 2% called them bloggers. This is stated in the results of a joint study by Renaissance Insurance Group and the Fit Service car service network, the results of which were reviewed on February 19 by Izvestia.

86% of the respondents turn to someone for advice on "automotive" issues. Most often, respondents search for information on the Internet (37%), ask questions to relatives (33%) or colleagues at work (25%). One in five also stated that they seek the opinion of a car service employee.

42% of the respondents need repair advice. One in three needs an outside opinion when choosing a car service, and a quarter needs an outside opinion on spare parts and components. The same number of respondents need help with the selection of a used car, and 17% want to get an expert opinion on its improvement. Only 10% of the respondents seek advice on finding a new car.

Most of the respondents seeking advice were faced with the fact that the help was harmful to the car. One in four (27%) notes that the advice they receive is often disastrous, 29% encounter such help only periodically, and 30% rarely.

One in three of those who received harmful advice notes that the damage from them did not exceed 50 thousand rubles. One in four (24%) was forced to compensate from 50,000 to 100,000 rubles due to bad advice, and another 23% - from 100,000 to 150,000 rubles. At the same time, the most harmful is someone else's opinion in car repair/ maintenance (38%) and in choosing a car service (27%).

"Women are a quarter more likely than men to pay significant money for harmful advice. Among men, the proportion of those whose damage was up to 50 thousand rubles is 40%, while for women it is 29%. Female motorists are twice as likely to "buy" harmful advice worth more than 200,000 rubles (7% versus 3% for men) and one and a half times more likely to spend 150-200 thousand rubles (17% versus 10%, respectively)," the analysts noted.

Earlier, on January 27, it was reported that currently more than 52% of Russians surveyed service cars outside the dealer network, using the services of non-certified service stations and other workshops. According to experts, there are about 130,000 car service stations in Russia, which do not yet have a single standard of services and pricing.
