Pyotr Biryukov, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Communal Services and Landscaping, said that currently all city services continue to work in an enhanced mode, and emergency crews from engineering companies and prefectures of administrative districts are on duty around the clock. According to him, tractors and heavy cranes will be on duty for possible assistance to truck drivers.
On the same day, Yevgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, warned Muscovites and residents of her region about the "most enormous snowdrifts" caused by the Balkan cyclone. He did not rule out that the expected weather phenomenon would not only double the climatic norm, but also break the records of 1966 and 1974. The expert noted that snowfalls will begin at 06:00 Moscow time and will intensify by the middle of the day, accompanied by a blizzard and reduced visibility to 1-2 km.
