Zakharova called threats against Iran ineffective
Threats and blackmail are not conducive to negotiations on the Iranian issue. This was announced on February 18 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"Threats and blackmail do not contribute to the success of the negotiation process. Russia is convinced that finding mutually acceptable solutions to the Iranian nuclear issue requires an equal and respectful dialogue," Zakharova said during a briefing.
Zakharova noted that there is no reasonable alternative to this dialogue. She stressed that Russia can only hope that as a result of the negotiations on Iran, the region will not be drawn into a new military adventure.
The day before, it became known that the Iranian authorities expressed their readiness to suspend uranium enrichment and consider exporting part of the reserves outside the country as part of a potential agreement with the United States. It is noted that Russia is being considered as a possible intermediary for the export of stocks.
On the same day, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called the talks with the United States in Geneva constructive. According to him, these developments will be taken into account in the upcoming negotiations, after which the parties "will move on to discussing the essence of a possible agreement."
