- Sky News learned about the expectation in the EC from Kiev of the deadlines for the repair of the Druzhba oil pipeline
The European Commission (EC) has appealed to the Ukrainian authorities with a demand to specify the time frame for the restoration of the Druzhba oil pipeline. This was reported on February 18 by the British TV channel Sky News.
"Outside the peace talks, the European Commission stated that it wants to receive from Ukraine a schedule for repairing the pipeline through which Russian oil is transported to Europe, after it was damaged earlier this year," the publication says.
It is noted that Slovakia and Hungary have asked Croatia for help in supplying Russian oil due to fears of a fuel crisis. However, Croatian Economy Minister Ante Susnjar said that this would not happen, as there were allegedly "no technical justifications" for using oil from Russia.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced on February 15 that Hungary and Slovakia had asked Croatia to allow oil transit via the Adriatic pipeline from Russia. Szijjarto noted that the opportunity to purchase oil from Russia via the Druzhba pipeline for Hungary and Slovakia is an exception to the sanctions.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on February 17 that the issue of a possible increase in oil supplies to Hungary through Croatia was being worked out at the level of relevant companies, and Ukraine's position complicated the situation in this area.
