Sanae Takaichi, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), has been re-elected as Prime Minister of Japan. This was reported on February 18 by the NHK broadcasting company.

Takaichi received 237 votes in the House of Representatives. In the House of Councillors, she was one vote short of a majority in the first round, so a second round was required, where she won 125 votes against 46 for the opposition leader.
